National NeighborWorks Association Emerging Leader of the Year 2007: Director Sheila Rice. In February of 2009, Sheila Rice completed 6 years as Executive Director of both NeighborWorks Great Falls and NeighborWorks Montana. Under her management, both of these agencies have been able to step up to the next level, increasing both breadth and depth of housing and neighborhood services in Great Falls and across the state. 

NeighborWorks Charter. In September of 2006, NeighborWorks Montana was chartered as a member of the National NeighborWorks Network by NeighborWorks America . The charter was preceded by an intensive review of NWMT's finances, governance and staff. NWMT received an "exemplary" rating on the pre-charter review.

2006 Winner for Innovative Practices: From the National Center for Housing Education and Counseling, for a statewide campaign for foreclosure prevention.

Montana is #1 for 2005 homeownership production. NeighborWorks Montana, working through NeighborWorks Great Falls until 2007, is one of 154 members of the NeighborWorks Campaign for Home Ownership. The Campaign, launched in January 1993, is the largest initiative of its kind to bring families of modest means into the economic mainstream by helping them achieve one of their primary goals in life: buying a home. NHS and NWMT together were the top producers of new homeownership in 2005, assisting 504 families into homeownership.

Innovations in HomeOwnership. The NeighborWorks Montana have been awarded first place or second place in the Innovations in Homeownership Contest conducted by the NeighborWorks Center for Housing Education and Counseling (NCHEC), an initiative of NeighborWorks America, NWMT's national partner. NWMT has won honors each of the last three years for the "Best Collaboration to Promote Homeownership" category, "Best Strategy for Reaching Minority Homebuyers" category, and "Best Use of Technology".

HUD Best Practices 2000. The NeighborWorks Montana was named one of HUD’s Best Practices in the Nation in 2000. The award commended NHS and NWMT for working together with the Montana Board of Housing, Rural Housing Services, lenders and local non-profit organizations to create an effective statewide network of homeownership services, including homebuyer education, housing guidance and down payment and closing cost loans.
